"In the aftermath of war, justice is often just a cleaner form of violence."

Influenced by the elegiac and somber style of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, this short is a deconstruction of the outlaw myth. I wanted to move away from the high-energy "Wild West" and focus on the grim, messy consequences of extra-judicial killing. Through naturalistic settings and intimate close-ups, the film explores the lawlessness of the post-Civil War frontier and the irreversible nature of mortal conflict.
